Afghanistan

The Security and Defence subcommittee will hold a session on the security situation in Afghanistan. The committee will hear from the director of Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability at the Council of Ministers and the head  of the EU Police Mission there (EUPOL Afghanistan) , as well as representatives of the US mission to the EU, the Afghan head of mission to the EU and others. Geoffrey Van Orden, ECR security and defence coordinator, will call for all European nations to contribute their fair share towards promoting stability and security in the country.  He will also express concerns about EU duplication of Nato and American police training missions, which have so far been more successful than their EU counterpart.
