MEPs will vote at second reading on a compromise reached between the parliament's lead members and the Council of Ministers on a directive that sets out new rules on animal testing for scientific purposes.
The proposal replaces a directive from 1986. It increases protection of animals used in labs whilst ensuring that testing can still continue, under significant regulation.
ECR agriculture coordinator James Nicholson MEP supports the compromise text agreed.
