Parliament's Transport committee will vote on the new directive on aviation security charges. Without seeking to harmonize different charging systems that exist in the Member States, the directive seeks to establish a number of basic principles like non-discrimination, transparency and cost-relatedness to be respected when determining security charges in airports.
The draft report provides that the scope of the directive should cover all commercial airports. It also says that, when it comes to introduction of more stringent national measures by the Member States, additional costs arising from implementation of such measures shall be borne by the Member States. UK member Jacqui Foster, who is shadow rapporteur on the report, and ECR transport committee coordinator Roberts Zile will be available for comment.
Vote: Monday @ 15.00
