ECR Vice-President Adam Bielan will present his opinion on EU competition policy in 2008 to the Internal Market committee. In his report, Mr Bielan highlights the need for SME-friendly competition rules based on the "think small first" principle. He also highlights the need for cooperation between the parliament and consumer and business organisations when amending the so-called Block Exemption Regulation (which allow state aid without commission approval in certain categories). In particular, he calls for a hearing on the commission's draft Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation.
