The parliament's home affairs and civil liberties committee will hold an exchange of views on counter-terrorism policies, particularly following the failed Detroit flight bombing. Body scanners, the EU-USA PNR (passenger name register), and EU-USA "TFTP" (Terrorist Finance Tracking Programme)are due to feature in the discussions. Contributors to the meeting will include Gilles de Kerchove (EU Counter-terrorism Coordinator) and Peter Hustinx (European Data Protection Supervisor). Home Affairs coordinator Timothy Kirkhope will argue that the EU and USA's response to the failed bombing must be proportionate and fully considered, rather than knee-jerk and alarmist.
