The European Commission will set out its widely anticipated Europe 2020 strategy this week. The strategy, which is seen as the successor to the Lisbon Agenda for jobs and growth, will help form the blueprint for the EU's contribution to economic recovery across the Continent.
The European Commission published a consultation document at the end of 2009. The ECR group submitted a response, claiming that the document contained too many remote and abstract principles. Instead, we set out some clear and deliverable priorities that would assist with economic recovery, focusing on the completion of the single market, driving innovation through public markets and removing barriers to entrepreneurs. You can view the response here: http://www.ecrgroup.eu/publications.asp
ECR Chairman of the Parliament's Internal Market Committee, Malcolm Harbour, will be available for comment on the new strategy.
