A report by French Green MEP Joseph Bove looks at the food supply chain. Among its proposals are: action against private labels (such as supermarket own brands), an EU Ombudsman and a ban on below-cost selling (such as 'Buy one get one free' offers).

ECR Agriculture coordinator James Nicholson MEP has tabled an alternative resolution to the proposals which remove the unrealistic and protectionist elements in favour of voluntary codes of conduct and national ombudsmen.
