Inland Shipping

The European economic downturn has had a disastrous impact on the inland shipping sector, because it has very limited capacity to adjust to abrupt changes in the state of the economy. Parliament's Transport committee will debate with the European Commission the situation of the inland shipping industry and the possible measures to be taken to support this transport sector in responding to future developments. ECR Member, Vice-President of the Transport committee Peter van Dalen, rapporteur for the 2009-2018 Maritime Transport Strategy report, will lead this debate.
