The parliament's Women's and Employment committees will consider amendments to proposals to increase maternity leave to a minimum of 18 weeks which had been shelved before the European elections.
The ECR group has submitted numerous amendments to this report in an effort to reiterate the importance of Member States leading on this issue. ECR women's coordinator Marina Yannakoudakis and employment coordinator Milan Cabrnoch will argue that it should not be for Brussels to set one-size-fits-all maternity policy, which could reduce the employment prospects of young women.
Debate in Women's committee: Monday @ 16.15
Vote on the employment committee's opinion: Wednesday @ 11.00
