Brussels, 2nd March -- The former Czech Prime minister and the Czech ODS party leader Mirek Topolanek addressed the ECR Group meeting on Tuesday. He applauded the Group´s success and efforts up to now. "Your constructive and hard work in the committees shows the ECR as a serious partner for the centre-right wing in the European Parliament. You have already proven to be a reasonable mainstream group and I´m sure the ECR Group will be much more powerful in the future," Mirek Topolanek said.
In his speech he focused mainly on the eurozone crisis. He called the european approach to Greece "a moral hazard". "Today we can see an infection of irresponsibility going about Europe," Topolanek said. "Financing Greece makes the Maastricht criteria not worth the paper it is printed on."
Mirek topolanek also criticised the short-time fiscal stimulus as market distorting. "That´s why I rely upon the ECR Group. For me, you represent one of the last reasonable and realistic voices in the European Union," Topolanek said.
