WEEK AHEAD WITH ECR GROUP

New developments in public procurement

22nd to 28th February 2009 - Brussels

Oldrich Vlasak, ECR coordinator of the Regional Development committee, will be defending his opinion on the new developments in public procurement. Although public procurement concerns around 16 % of total GDP of EU states, there are still many problems related to the implementation of the European legislative framework. Public procurement rules also form obstacles in utilization of European funds.

In the opinion, based on broad consultation with local and regional authorities, Mr. Vlasak has highlighted the need for simplification and clarification of the public procurement rules, public procurement capacity building on local and regional level and full utilization of accelerated public procurement possibilities in the time of economic crisis.

Vote: Monday @ 17.00
