Pakistan floods

The European Commission will open a debate on the EU's response to the floods in Pakistan. ECR member Sajjad Karim MEP is chairman of the parliament's Friends of Pakistan group. He will call for the EU to sustain its efforts in responding to the crisis and devise a medium to long term development programme. He will also argue that the EU needs to look swiftly at ways of opening its markets to enable Pakistanis to rebuild their economy through trade rather than just aid.
