ECR justice and home affairs coordinator Timothy Kirkhope will be supporting the proposed interim agreement between the EU and USA regarding sharing records of bank transfers. He will argue that, whilst the tactics used by the Council of Ministers have been unacceptable, failure to agree the accord now might encourage the US authorities to pursue other avenues, which are unlikely to guarantee the level of data protection present in the provisional agreement.
